The adidas Forest Grove Revives The Oregon With A Modern Update
The adidas Forest Grove looks back to the classic runners of the 80s with an updated version of the original Oregon trainer.
If you know your Stan Smith from your Samoa then you are probably scratching your head right now thinking that the new Forest Grove silhouette is almost identical to the Oregon. Well to be fair it is pretty much the same trainer, but why the change of name from adidas is not really clear? Although the name may have changed, possibly something to do with Nike, the 3 stripes spirit is certainly still there. It’s also worth pointing out that Forest Grove is a city in Oregon, so the geographic connection still remains.
The Oregon was the first shoe to utilise Bill Dellinger’s famous web system that also appeared on other 3 stripes classics of the era such as the adidas New York trainer. First surfacing in 1982, the running trainer would also develop into the Oregon Ultra Tech in the early 90s, although its the OG 80s trainer that has remained the most desirable. Features of this latest Forest Grove iteration of the Oregon include the famous Dellinger web system to the midsole, suede uppers with contrasting 3 stripes to the sides and heel tab.
