The BAPE 25th Anniversary exhibition was held at Tokyo’s Omotesando Hills and featured a curation of collaborations, Shark Hoods & Apes.

Lets cut straight to the chase here. We’ve all seen these new brands popping up claiming to be the next big thing in streetwear just because some z rate celebrity from Love Island endorsed it. Granted, some of them might make a quick buck, but the truth is they aren’t going to be dropping collabs with adidas in 25 years are they? The fact is Japanese streetwear brands like BAPE will always rule the roost in the streetwear world, with their signature shark hoods, classic camo and Ape graphics, acting like a pillar of the global streetwear scene. Started by Nigo (Tomoaki Nagao) in Tokyo in 1993, BAPE has grown to become one the world leaders and most respected global streetwear brands’ thanks to ongoing collaborations with adidas & UNDEFEATED alongside previous drops with Supreme back in 1998 and Stüssy in 2013 to name a few.

BAPE 25th Anniversary exhibition

2018 marks the 25th anniversary of BAPE or A Bathing Ape, and to celebrate their coming of age, BAPE headed to Tokyo’s iconic Omotesando Hills shopping complex to host a special anniversary exhibition showcasing all things BAPE. Highlights included an exclusive BAPE cafe, plenty of shark hoods, Baby Milo statues, a skateboard deck wall, collaborations past and present as well as room of BAPE furniture. In other BAPE related news you can also check out the forthcoming adidas Snowboarding x BAPE AW18 collection which drops tomorrow.
