Paving Space is a short film from Carhartt WIP x Isle Skateboards, exploring modern art, maths and skateboarding.
This latest project & short film came about when Carhartt WIP approached fellow skateboard brand ISLE Skateboards about the potential of doing an apparel collaboration together. The recently founded ISLA Skateboards has regularly worked and collaborated with artists on their design concepts so when Carhartt WIP tapped them up, it seemed like the perfect idea to work with skateboarder and artist Raphaël Zarka.
Raphaël Zarka had been mesmerised by the work of Arthur Moritz Schoenflies, a mathematician from the 1800’s who specialised in geometry and 3 dimensional shapes. Zarka has brought these magnificent dimensional shapes to life through modern day carpentry and not only that but used them for skating on. The re-imagined shapes have created some of the most technical skate ramps, boxes, ledges and lips ever seen. The video captures just how imaginative they really are on the board.
The Carhartt WIP x Isle Skateboards collection also comes as part of the video release and features 3 apparel pieces including the Skye Jacket in 12oz ‘Dearborn’ canvas and two graphic T-Shirts each with a different ‘artwork’ print to the rear. Also included are 2 Canadian Maple skateboard decks each coming with their own unique designs.
The Carhartt WIP x Isle Skateboards capsule collection is available now exclusively from carhartt-wip.com.
