Mike Skinner will be touring the UK in 2018 with The Streets as well as his new ‘The Darker The Light The Brigher The Shadow’ material.
Its been 7 years since Mike Skinner toured as The Streets with solo projects and collaborations like The D.O.T. and The Tonga Baloon Gang taking musical priority. More recently Skinner has embarked on a new solo project under the alias ‘The Darker The Shadow The Brighter The Light’ with recent tracks such as ‘Things You Need To Pattern‘ and ‘Months That Begin on Sunday’. Yesterday Skinner announced via Instagram that he will be touring the UK for 2018 as The Streets along with his new material.
The Streets first album ‘Original Pirate Material’, released in 2002, is still considered one of the best UK urban albums to come out of the noughties. Putting a new direction on the 90’s garage sound, Skinner talked about real life issues with the likes of NME ranking it 46th out of 100 as one of the best albums of all time. Skinner stated that one of the reasons for the 2018 tour was down to the fact he had missed tour buses. The Streets 2018 tour will kick of at Birmingham’s O2 Academy on the 19th April 2018 finishing off with 2 shows at Brixton’s O2 London on the 25th & 26th April 2018.
