The North Face Nuptse Jacket was first released in 1992, in 25 years it has become a streetwear icon and an all time outerwear great.
If you have never heard of Nuptse, then we strongly suggest you brush up on your streetwear knowledge and research. Nuptse has been the king of big jackets and cold weather outerwear since it was first released in 1992. The early 90’s marked an era where modern day streetwear (as we know it) really started to take momentum. Originally designed for the mountains, the name came from the Tibetan word for ‘West Peak’ and soon made its way onto the snowy streets of New York City.
The Nuptse became a key style on the East Coast hip hop scene and Big Apple street culture with its cold winters and unpredictable weather. Over the last 25 years its fair to say the Nuptse has become somewhat of a streetwear icon with its first collaboration alongside Supreme New York back in 2011. The Nuptse has remained a key piece of outerwear throughout the Supreme x The North Face collections, and arguably one of the most talked about styles.
In celebration of the Nuptse’s 25th anniversary, The North Face have revived the original jackets from 1992 in their original colourways. The original 92′ Nuptse comes available in jacket and gilet form with RDS certified goose down to provide optimal warmth in the coldest conditions.
The North Face Nuptse 25th Anniversary Jackets are available now from thenorthface.co.uk. In other Nuptse related features you can also check out our recent feature exploring every single Supreme x The North Face collaboration since 2007.
