Here’s A Closer Look At The OFF-WHITE x Converse Chuck Taylor
The OFF-WHITE x Converse Chuck Taylor sees Virgil Abloh add his usual stamp of simplistic lettering to the all American classic silhouette.
Following on from the OFF-WHITE x Nike VaporMax 2018 trainer that dropped earlier in the year, Virgil Abloh now puts his creative hands to one of the oldest sneaker silhouettes on the entire planet, the Converse Chuck Taylor. The Abloh stamp has become synonymous with simplicity, yet contemporary and creative at the same time, with the Chuck Taylor or All Star as it is also known, dropping like it has never done before. The classic basketball sneaker has been around since the early 1900’s, also seeing its fair share of subculture appreciation from the early 90s grunge movement, hip hop artists and athletes.
The iconic basketball trainer now gets treated to things like “VULCANIZED” on the translucent sole unit, “SHOELACES” you guessed it on the shoelaces and “LEFT” or “RIGHT” on the rubber toe box. The all white uppers are also translucent and finished off with Abloh’d signature orange tabs against the iconic circular Converse ‘All Star’ badge.
