The Overkill x Reebok Club C 85 ‘Berlin 85’ trainer looks to the history of East Berlin and the GDR throughout the 1980s.
1985 not only saw the release of the legendary Club C trainer from Reebok, it also marked a significant era of divide between East & West in Germany’s capital city, Berlin. Based just across the river Spree and the Eastside Gallery, Overkill’s current Köpenicker Straße location sits firmly on the old East side of Berlin, where the GDR ruled with an iron fist, and the people looked to a brighter future on the west side of the city. In memory of the GDR and the history of Berlin, Overkill have teamed up with Reebok for a GDR inspired Club C 85.
The trainer looks back to floral wall paper and table cloth prints that would have been seen in the living rooms of flats in East Berlin during the era, featuring on the inners with ‘Berlin’ & ‘1985’ also featuring to the heel tab. Other features include butter-soft upper leather uppers in ivory with a green corduroy tongue and ‘Sector Overkill’ labelled on the insole referencing the sector signs of Berlin in the cold war era. The drop will also include a collection of apparel, again running with the same GDR theme including tees, shorts and socks.
The Overkill x Reebok Club C 85 ‘Berlin 85’ trainer will be launching from overkillshop.com from Sunday 23rd September 2018. In other recent sneaker news you can also check out the recently released adidas Continental 80 in semi frozen Yeezy yellow.
