PUMA Team up With New York’s Hip Hop & Sneaker Legend ‘Bobbito’
The PUMA Clyde and Suede Mid get a serving of New York City street culture in collaboration with Fondle ‘Em Records founder Robert ‘Bobbito’ Garcia.
As well as strating his own record label, Bobbito also co-hosted The Stretch Armstrong Show on WKCR in the 90’s which featured demo tapes and freestyles from some of the biggest names in Hip Hop & Rap from the likes of Wu Tang Clan, Jay-Z, Fat Joe, Fugees, Notorious B.I.G. and Busta Rhymes to name a few. The show was aptly named the ‘Best Hip Hop Radio Show of All Time by The Source in 1998.
Known for his love of street culture and sneakers he also wrote the critically acclaimed ‘Where’d You Get Those? New York City’s Sneaker Culture: 1960- 1987’ book as well as previously collaborating with Nike on the Air Force 1 and adidas with the Superstar collection.
For August 2016, Bobbito has now turned his attention to PUMA this time collaborating on the classic Suede Mid and Clyde silhouettes. The collection pays homage to the New Yorker’s love for street culture and basketball with both trainers sharing common interests and heritage.
The PUMA x Bobbito Suede Mid comes with classic brown suede uppers with the Cylde in grey both with subtle gold touches and basketball influences. The Puma x Bobbito collection launches Saturday the 13th August 2016 from END. Clothing, Footpatrol, Well Gosh & The Chimp Store.
