Our next podcast installment comes from the London based Grime DJ, Shaun Dyer aka P Jam.

 

Tell us more about the Grime Originals show on Rinse FM and what we can expect for the rest of 2018?

That show was basically a one off to warm up for the Mucky night that was taking place that weekend. You’ve got Trends & Boylan’s album “Bedlam” dropping 23rd November 2018, along with a night in Glasgow & Shoreditch, London to launch the album which I have the privilege of being a part of.

 

How did you get involved with the Mucky nights and where can we catch the next one?

Mucky was an idea we’ve been talking about amongst ourselves for a little while. Spooky set it in motion and got us together to make it happen. We’ve done 2 nights so far, the next one will be the first quarter of the new year, 2019.

Take us back to how you originally got involved with the DJ thing, what drew you in?

Luckily when I was young my Godfather use to come round on a Saturday and him and my Dad use to go though tapes of Kool FM recorded or records he would buy that week (religiously). I was there soaking it all up like a sponge and I just fell in love with the Jungle sound and saw the DJs & Producers as my heroes. DJs such as Randall, Brockie, SL, Ron, Mampi Swift, Doc Scott, JJ Frost, Grooverider, Bryan G, Hype (I can go on all day) they’re the ones that drew me in, legends all of them.

 

Where do you see the UK Grime/Urban scene going over the next 5 years?

Honestly I couldn’t tell you because I haven’t really given that a thought at all. To be honest I’m really enjoying what we’re doing at present and the energy around it so hopefully we can keep this up and share this energy as much as possible, then who knows?
