The Good Will Out x Saucony Originals Shadow 5000 VHS trainer celebrates an era of VHS before the internet revolution.
Watching sci-fi movies from the 1970’s and 1980’s isn’t really that different to the modern world now. Technology as advanced so much in the last 10 years that sometimes you have to pinch yourself. For those who were born in the 70’s, 80’s and 90’s you will all remember VHS, or just tapes as they were commonly called. VHS revolutionised how we could now watch movies at home and you could also record them direct from the TV. Every house must have had them brown or black almost library like tape sets with all the classics on, recorded straight off TV, with the adverts on as well of course. Before DVD’s and the internet came along, VHS was the thing. Now its all about Netflix, YouTube and the internet, the majority of people don’t even watch traditional TV anymore, its more box sets and streaming.
The height of the VHS late 80’s era was the same time as the first drop of the Saucony Shadow 5000, however the trainer made a recent come back but VHS didn’t. The Good Will Out x Saucony Originals Shadow 5000 VHS trainer draws inspiration from the now old school visual technology. VHS features to the classic runner include black satin suede uppers with a TWGO logo and the iconic colour chart which use to be broadcast in between TV shows. Other features include VHS symbols like play, stop, rewind etc to the front right shoe and VHSaucony to both heels.
The Good Will Out x Saucony Originals Shadow 5000 VHS launches from thegoodwillout.com from Saturday 5th August 2017. As part of the launch the trainers will come in an old school VHS player box and the first to grab a pair form the Cologne, Germany store will receive an original VHS movie form the 80’s heydays.
