The year is almost over which means it’s time to look back at the top sneakers of 2018 and trainer releases.
There have been hundreds of sneaker releases and drops over the past 12 months. A lot of them were successful, whereas some of them were not as popular among customers and the global sneaker scene. From OFF-WHITE to one of the most hyped Kanye West x adidas Yeezy kicks, we selected 5 of the most essential releases and some of the top sneakers of 2018.
Sean Wotherspoon x Nike Air Max 1/97
The Sean Wotherspoon x Nike Air Max 1/97 trainer was an unexpected hit this year. The grails’ dropped on Air Max Day (27th of March 2018) with a retail price of £125. Nike definitely made this release unforgettable. The company decked out a Volkswagen van, where Sean made a delivery to lucky buyers throughout the country. The limited-edition shoe has a unique multicolored corduroy upper with frayed edges. The yellow color is contrasted by blue, pink and grey before the green color circles the shoe.
OFF-WHITE x Nike Air Presto
Nike and Off-WHITE had plenty of releases, which were dropped throughout the year. In one of the most anticipated collaborations of this year, Virgil Abloh brought the unique design to Nike’s Air Presto. The shoe has “AIR” text on the heel’s strap and Virgil Abloh’s signature tech call outs. Moreover, the release included kicks in two different colorways: black and white. Both pairs originally dropped from Nike and other sneaker retailers before hitting the shelves of the sneaker resale market.
Yeezy Wave Runner 700
Most of the worlds sneaker heads now own a pair of the Yeezy Wave Runner 700 trainer for sure! This, mostly, happened because of Kanye West and the Kardashian family. However, Kanye West was criticized because of this pair of sneakers when he published the silhouette of it for the first time. Retailing for £250, the adidas Yeezy Boost 700 has Multi Solid Grey/Core Black/Chalk White colorway.
adidas Continental 80
The adidas Continental originally dropped in the 80s as part of a ‘Made in France’ exclusive, but stayed untouched, remaining in the 3 stripes archive untill 2018. Despite the fact that these sneakers are usually compared to Yeezy Calabasas, they are not the same. This year they were dropped in various of different colours and with an affordable retail price.
Skepta x Nike Air Max Deluxe
The must-have for every sneaker head of this year is new Skepta x NIke Air Max Deluxe SK pair of sneakers. This year UK Grime artist Skepta and Nike made their third Air Max collaboration. Releasing in a black and deep red colorway, the sneakers also featured a VHS static pattern decorated with “NEVER SLEEP ON TOUR” and “12:05 PM JUNE 08 2014” OSD mono font text. These dropped just some months ago, in September 2018, at Nike retailers and via raffles worldwide.
