Back in the early noughties adidas joined forces with a Japanese designer with a collaboration that would go on to become one of the most talked about high end sportswear labels for years to come. Merging the lines between athletic silhouettes and Japanese streetwear, Yohji Yamaoto‘s Y-3 continues to be an ongoing talking point from streetwear enthusiasts and premium sneaker collectors. The brand recently headed to Paris to showcase its latest drop for the forthcoming AW19 season which focuses on archive pieces such as the classic 3 stripes tracksuits from an era of icons from the 70s through to the sportswear fueled 90s era.
Fabrics include the latest tech such as GORE‑TEX® INFINIUM™ and classic Y-3 colourways such as icon orange with floral prints inspired by the Japanese tradition of ikebana. Footwear sees archival style meet modern day trainer tech with silhouettes like Y-3 ZX Torsion looking back to the legendary ZX running line from the 1980s with updated BOOST™and Primeknit technology.
