To commemorate the 40th anniversary of the original Sprinter Trueno, Toyota is releasing the 2024 Trueno version, a limited version of its GR86 sports coupe. Limited to just 860 units, this edition comes with a new performance package, which will also be available as a retrofit for 2022 and 2023 models. For the first time, the GR86’s active safety system will be offered on models with a manual transmission.
The Trueno Edition features a distinctive appearance package, available in red or white. It includes a two-tone hood, side stripes, black finishes on the door handles, side mirrors, and duckbill spoiler, as well as “TRUENO Edition” badging and unique 18-inch alloy wheels.
A highlight of the performance package is the 18-inch wheels, necessary for its installation. It features Sachs dampers and Brembo callipers to improve the ride, handling, and braking uniformity. The package can be retrofitted to 2022 and 2023 models, which use the 18-inch wheels of the Premium grade as a stand-in.
Safety-conscious enthusiasts will be pleased to know that the manual-transmission GR86s will now be available for active safety features such as adaptive cruise control and pre-collision braking.
