Volkswagen didn’t do much for the Taos in 2024. To entice purchasers not to wait for the 2025 model, VW introduced an evergreen and perennially popular Black Package for the mid-level SE grade. The brochure “accents the bold exterior styling of Taos with black wheels, a black roof, darkened exterior design elements, and projector headlights with an illuminated front grille.”
Inside, customers will see the usual scattering of glossy black trim with blue stitching. The SE Black starts at $30,365 in front-wheel drive, before the $1,425 destination cost, for $31,790. Getting power to the rear axle requires paying $33,440 for the SE Black 4Motion.
Speaking of which, the above Taos is the closest we could get to the SE Black using the configurator; the actual car should be even blacker, depending on the exterior color selected.
VW didn’t do anything else to the lineup—the IQ. The driving assistance package is now standard on all Taos models, including the base Taos S, and includes adaptive cruise control and lane-keeping assist. This grade level also has a standard heated leatherette steering wheel and rain-sensing wipers. Additionally, the SE trim level includes dual-zone automatic climate control.
