We took our first ride in the 2025 BMW Z4 in December with the newly available manual gearbox. It’s a welcome addition to the roadster and adds more than just the gearbox, as it’s part of a package that includes additional upgrades.
However, the Supra includes a manual gearbox option at no additional cost, and the manual is only available with the turbocharged 3.0-liter six-cylinder engine, as is the Z4. So, a manual 2025 will cost more than $70,000.
However, the Z4’s new package includes more than just the manual gearbox. BMW has tuned the M40i’s suspension, steering, limited slip differential, and traction control. The gearbox is also customized to BMW’s specifications. Thus, it is not identical to what Toyota uses. Our time in the car demonstrated that all of the modifications make for a more enjoyable and engaging driving beyond simply getting to shift for ourselves.
However, there are some visual alterations. The manual M40i is the only Z4 with staggered wheels, 19 inches in the front and 20 inches in the rear. It comes equipped with black mirrors, grille, and logo trims, available on the ordinary variant. There are also distinctive paint and interior design options available. The manual package only includes two green hues: San Remo Green and Frozen Deep Green.
