BMW M5 Touring confirmed: Wagon lovers rejoice!

BMW M5 Touring confirmed

Not long ago, BMW’s lead designer Domagoj Dukec informed a reporter “that the next-generation M5 will be marketed in North America in both sedan and wagon body types.” According to the automaker’s official statement, “The next 7th generation of the BMW M5 sedan will be accompanied – for the first time in the US – by a Touring variation.”

Now that we know its opposing body types, we can naturally focus on its performance credentials. We are sorry to say that those are still under wraps. The next-generation M5 in short- and long-roof models is currently testing on the road, and rumors suggest that it will feature a plug-in motor with more than 700 horsepower and all-wheel drive.

BMW claims the M5 will come with “an M Hybrid drivetrain closely comparable to the one seen in the BMW M Hybrid V8 GTP racing car.” That racing machine has a 4.0-liter bi-turbo V8 engine powered by an electric motor and a battery pack.

We also anticipate a slew of aggressive stylistic aspects that effectively portray what should be ludicrous capabilities. We have yet to learn about the numerous versions with growing performance levels or the price, but we are excited that American fans will have access to the M5 Touring alongside the rest of the fun and practical bunch for the first time.
