Stellantis is investing over $406 million into three of its Michigan facilities as part of its push toward a more electrified future. The largest share of this investment, $235.5 million, will go to the Sterling Heights Assembly Plant.
This plant will become Stellantis’ first U.S. facility to produce a fully electric vehicle—the 2025 Ram 1500 REV, expected to launch in late 2024. The plant will also manufacture the range-extended Ram 1500 Ramcharger.
The Warren Truck Assembly Plant will receive $97.6 million to develop an electrified version of the Jeep Wagoneer. This new model is among four electric vehicles Jeep plans to launch globally by the end of 2025.
The plant will continue producing traditional internal combustion engine models alongside the new electrified versions.
Additionally, the Dundee Engine Plant will get over $73 million to support the production of battery trays and other components for Stellantis’ STLA Frame architecture.
CEO Carlos Tavares emphasized that these investments will support Stellantis’ multi-energy strategy and meet growing customer demand for innovative, eco-friendly vehicles.
This significant funding underlines Stellantis’ commitment to leading the transition to electric vehicles in the U.S. automotive market.
