According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gu, Apple plans to release several new Macs over the next few months, including new MacBook Pro, Mac mini, and Mac Pro models.

Gurman stated in his latest “Power On” newsletter that Apple is continuing work on the first Apple silicon Mac Pro, with the company reportedly ramping up internal testing of the device. The high-end Mac desktop will reportedly include chip options that are at least twice or four times as powerful as the M2 Max, dubbed “M2 Ultra” and “M2 Extreme.” Gurman anticipates that the Mac Pro will be available with 24 and 48 CPU cores, 76 and 152 graphics cores, and up to 256GB of memory.

Gurman went on to detail one specific Mac Pro configuration that appears to be in active testing at Apple: a model with 24 CPU cores, 76 graphics cores, and 192GB of memory. According to reports, the machine is running macOS Ventura 13.3.

Gurman confirmed that new 14- and 16-inch MacBook Pro models will be available in M2 Pro and M2 Max configurations, as expected. The M2 Max is expected to have 12 CPU cores and 38 GPU cores, as well as up to 64GB of memory. The M2 Max is expected to remain available in both display size models.

The next-generation Mac mini is said to use the same M2 chip as the MacBook Air and 13-inch MacBook Pro. Apple has tested an M2 Pro chip with increased core counts inside the new Mac mini, but Gurman did not say whether the company will proceed with that model.

While he does not expect the new Mac Pro to be available until 2023, Gurman does expect the next-generation MacBook Pro and Mac mini models to be available “within the coming months.”
