BYD, the leading global electric vehicle (EV) manufacturer known for its diverse range of products, from EV buses to smartphone batteries, is making a significant entrance into the Pakistani market.
The company’s debut marks a pivotal moment for Pakistan’s automotive industry, with BYD introducing three new models: the Atto 3, Seal, and Sealion 6.
The Atto 3 is an all-electric SUV featuring a 150 kW motor and BYD’s innovative lithium iron phosphate (LFP) blade battery, offering impressive range and efficiency.
The Seal, a mid-size sedan, boasts a sleek design and advanced battery options, providing a driving range of up to 700 kilometers. The Sealion 6, a plug-in hybrid SUV, combines powerful electric and petrol engines for a versatile driving experience.
At the launch event in Lahore, high-profile attendees, including former Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, witnessed the unveiling of these models.
BYD plans to establish three flagship stores in Karachi, Lahore, and Islamabad, along with 20-25 dealerships across Pakistan within three years.
The company also announced plans to build a state-of-the-art NEV assembly plant in Karachi by 2026 and develop fast-charging infrastructure across major cities and highways.
BYD’s entry is expected to transform the EV landscape in Pakistan, setting a new standard for the industry and expanding the options available to local consumers.
