Cadillac relies heavily on the XT5, the brand’s second-best-selling model. It is set to enter its second generation soon, and leaked images from China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology shows it without camouflage.
The images, obtained by CarBuzz, confirm that the next-generation XT5 will have a sharper-looking exterior design that borrows styling cues from other recent Cadillac additions. Its front end appears more upright, with smaller headlights and a thinner and broader grille. In contrast, the back end retains the vertical lights but adds horizontal inserts integrated into the hatch and connected by a bright trim strip.
Interestingly, the crossover’s basic proportions haven’t changed significantly, though the character lines on both sides have been toned down, and the D-pillars have received a piece of black trim. We don’t know how the interior compares to the current-generation model, released in 2017, but we expect a significant redesign and technological upgrade.
The 2024 XT5 comes standard with a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine producing 235 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. Alternatively, the tried-and-true 3.6-liter V6 with 310 horsepower and 271 pound-feet of torque is available at an additional cost. Front-wheel drive and a nine-speed automatic gearbox are standard, while all-wheel drive is optional.
It’s worth noting that the leaked images depict the variant that will be sold in China.
