Tesla Recalls Cybertruck for Sixth Time in 2024 Due to Faulty Drive Inverter

Tesla has announced its sixth recall of the Cybertruck in 2024, affecting over 2,400 vehicles due to a potential issue with the drive inverter.

This problem could lead to a complete loss of torque, causing the vehicle to lose propulsion and increasing the risk of a crash. The affected models were manufactured between November 6, 2023, and July 30, 2024.

The drive inverter issue stems from a fault in the metal-oxide-semiconductor field-effect transistors (MOSFET), which are essential for torque generation. Without these, drivers could lose the ability to accelerate without prior warning, although an alert on the center screen will prompt them to pull over.

Tesla will begin notifying affected owners and plans to replace the faulty inverters with updated ones starting December 9, 2024.

Earlier in the year, Tesla issued recalls for various other issues, including a slow rear camera display, potential unintended acceleration from a jammed pedal, a faulty windshield wiper, loose truck bed trim, and undersized font on warning lights.

So far, no injuries or accidents have been reported related to this latest defect, though Tesla is aware of five warranty claims.

Since its 2023 release, the Cybertruck has experienced multiple challenges, but Tesla is working to address these issues to ensure safe and reliable performance for its customers.
