MONTEREY, California — Although Pebble Beach is the traditional highlight of Monterey Car Week, my favourite event is the Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion. It takes place all weekend at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca, not just one day, and antique automobiles are tearing around the track all day.
The sights, sounds, and fragrances are all fantastic. If you get there, there are plenty of nice spots to take it all in, whether you’re sitting in the shade watching cars come down the Corkscrew or meandering through the paddocks.
We couldn’t describe the odours, but we can take you around the Reunion. I strolled down every row of the paddock, photographing nearly every automobile on display. They range from pre-war open-wheel automobiles through GT and Le Mans cars from the last two decades. Chevrolet also presented a special display of Corvette race cars and concepts to commemorate the sports car’s 70th anniversary.
The ultimate product is the largest gallery of the weekend, with over 200 cars. Because of the large number of classes and vehicles, we’ve grouped them all together in the gallery above for convenience. So locate a comfortable location and enjoy a leisurely stroll among the Reunion’s historic machinery.
