The long-awaited 2024 Lexus GX redesign will come at a cost, the company announced early Wednesday. The base model will cost $64,250 for the new model year. The Overtrail and Overtrail+ models will sit alongside the GX’s Premium+ and Luxury variants rather than at the top of the lineup.
The old 4.6-litre V8 is replaced in all 2024 GX variants by a new 3.4-litre twin-turbo V6, producing 349 horsepower and 479 pound-feet of torque. This is paired with a 10-speed automatic gearbox and four-wheel drive as standard. According to Lexus, this combination gets 17 mpg and has a towing capacity ranging from 6,780 to 8,000 pounds, depending on the trim. A hybrid version is on the way, but it won’t be ready for the 2024 model year.
While the trim structure is standard for a luxury SUV, the Overtrail and Overtrail+ models stand out for their off-road features. These have 33-inch all-terrain tyres mounted on distinctive 18-inch wheels, an electronic locking differential, black fender accents, and a 6mm aluminium skid plate. The Toyota/Lexus Electronic-Kinetic Dynamic Suspension System is only available on the Overtrail and Overtrail+ models.
