BMW’s stable of track-prepped sport sedans and coupes grows by one for 2025 with the updated M4 CS, which incorporates those updates and unique performance equipment designed to set it apart from the rest of BMW’s M4 lineup.
It falls between the regular Competition and the ultralightweight CSL. The CS’s 3.0-liter S58 inline-six improves 20 horsepower over the M4 Competition’s, for 543, but produces the same 479 pound-feet of torque. With the standard eight-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive, BMW claims it can go from 0 to 60 in 3.2 seconds and reach a top speed of 188 mph — or a sub-7:22 lap of the ‘ring, whichever floats your boat.
The CS features lightweight “v-spoke” wheels and a retuned suspension designed exclusively for this chassis type. Carbon ceramic brakes and R-compound tires are available as upgrades, with the latter being free of charge if desired. The roof, hood, front splitter, front air intakes, exterior mirror caps, rear diffuser, and rear spoiler comprise carbon fiber, which helps keep weight down.
The titanium silencer makes the exhaust eight pounds lighter. It may appear like BMW is scraping the bottom of the barrel for lightweight chances, but it still needs to be more extreme than the CSL. Even though the fronts are carbon fiber, this one still has a rear seat. The center console, shift paddles, and other trim elements are also present. BMW claims the CS weighs around 45 pounds less than the regular Competition.
BMW will reveal the 2025 M4 CS to the world on Friday, May 10.
