Chevrolet published prices for several Blazer EV versions earlier this week, however, it left out the previously stated base 1LT trim (shown above). Chevy’s decision to discontinue the 1LT was first reported by Automotive News, and Car & Driver later confirmed it.
The elimination of the 1LT means that the starting price of the 2024 Blazer EV will be significantly more than the $44,995 entry point Chevy promised at the vehicle’s first introduction. The new potential entry point will be the front-wheel-drive 2LT variant, which Chevy previously claimed would start at $47,595. We’d like to see Chevy keep that pricing once manufacturing begins, but we wouldn’t be surprised if the volatility of EV prices over the last year prompts another increase.
A spokeswoman for Chevrolet told Automotive News that the company expects higher trim levels of the Equinox EV will meet the needs of people who were contemplating the base Blazer EV. It also lowers pricing disparities between the two models.
None of these changes the release schedule established by Chevy last week. In reality, the 1LT was initially scheduled to be the last of the Blazer EV vehicles to be released for the 2024 model year.
