"Apple Expands Tap to Pay on iPhone to Germany, Simplifying Contactless Payments

Apple has swiftly expanded its Tap to Pay feature on iPhones to Germany following its recent launch in Italy. This new capability allows iPhone users across Germany to make contactless payments at millions of retailers.

Utilizing NFC technology, users with an iPhone Xs or newer and the latest iOS version can easily complete transactions by holding their device or a compatible NFC card near a payment terminal. This eliminates the need for additional hardware, offering a seamless payment experience for both customers and merchants alike.

Apple collaborated closely with major payment platforms in Germany, including Adyen, Commerz Globalpay, myPOS, Nexi, SumUp, and Viva, to ensure widespread support for Tap to Pay from its inception. Transactions are securely processed using NFC and the Secure Element, supporting credit and debit cards, Apple Pay, and other tap-based payment methods.

Since its debut in the US in 2022, Apple has progressively introduced Tap to Pay in various countries such as the UK, France, Australia, Japan, and Canada. This expansion underscores Apple’s commitment to enhancing payment convenience globally through its ecosystem, making iPhone not just a personal device but also a versatile payment tool trusted by businesses and consumers worldwide.
