It’s been a few weeks since Apple released iOS 17.5.1 to fix a problem that would allow users to restore a photo to their library, so Apple released a fix on Monday. Apple has released iOS 17.5.1 for iPad devices.
Based on the results, this new build is only for new iPad models and is not available in other models. Apple’s released new build number is 21F91 instead of 21F90.
This new build has been released, but Apple has yet to say much about what Gen 10 is for users. However, they have found a new bug that is very interesting and thought-provoking.
Apple says it has fixed a rare issue on iOS 17.5.1 and iPads 17.5.1, where photos that experience database corruption can cause your deleted photos to reappear in the library. Files on NAND storage cannot be deleted using a delete command; instead, the space they occupy is available for future marked use. The actual data remaining makes it stronger.
The problem, caused by a corrupt database that Apple pointed out, should still not result in the reappearance of a deleted image in the library after the problem has been resolved as expected from Apple. Completely deleted images are customer-specific. However, this problem was less widespread than it has now been resolved in iOS 17.5.1.
