The decision by the FIA and Formula One to keep Pirelli as the exclusive tyre supplier for the sport has prompted a response from Bridgestone.
All F1, F2, and F3 teams will continue to receive tyres from the Italian manufacturer through at least the end of 2027, with the possibility to extend the agreement for a further year. This indicates that Bridgestone, the only bidder for Pirelli’s contract, will not be returning after quitting Formula One in 2010.
“As Bridgestone celebrates the 60th anniversary of its motorsport activities in 2023, the company continues to support sustainable global premium motorsport,” the statement said, outlining part of its proposal to F1 and the FIA.
“As one of the many alternatives for promoting its sustained global premium racing strategy, Bridgestone has been studying Formula One, which is the largest global racing platform in the world.
Bridgestone has seriously and constantly been communicating with FIA and FOG regarding the next tyre tender season for F1 and proposed advanced revolutionary technology and sustainability ideas.”
