WhatsApp is upgrading its messaging interface by replacing its traditional typing indicator with three floating dots, similar to indicators found in apps like Instagram and Messenger.
This feature is currently rolling out to beta users, as confirmed by reports from Android Police and others. Unlike the current placement below the contact name, the updated indicator is expected to bring a more modern look.
This change is part of WhatsApp beta v2.24.24.24 and appears to involve a server-side switch. While no stable release date has been announced, the swift rollout in beta suggests a wider launch is imminent.
In addition to the typing indicator, WhatsApp has also introduced voice message transcripts. This feature allows users to receive a text summary of voice notes, which can be a time-saver for lengthy messages.
Currently limited to a few languages, WhatsApp plans to expand support in future updates.
These updates showcase WhatsApp’s commitment to refining its user experience by blending simplicity and modern functionality.
With the revamping of the typing indicator and the voice transcript feature, WhatsApp users can look forward to a more seamless messaging experience. Stay tuned for its official release!
