According to a report from Meta, the Instagram app’s Shop tab would be removed in a support article. The firm says the change would make it simpler for individuals to “share and connect with their friends and hobbies” and that it will go into effect in February. The Reels button will be to the right of the button to start a new Instagram post, which will be located in the middle of the tab bar.
The Information stated that Instagram was “planned to substantially pull back” its retail functions back in September. The business informed its staff that it was refocusing its efforts from e-commerce to the advertising sector, which accounts for the majority of Meta’s revenue.
However, that does not imply that Instagram’s retail functions would disappear entirely. The firm is clear that it will keep making investments in the Instagram app’s retail functionality for both individuals and companies.
It’s interesting to note that the Shop and Reels tabs were both established during the COVID-19 pandemic. In the past, Instagram has expressed its belief that more people would be eager to make online purchases and that the Shop tab would be a fantastic way for small companies to attract new clients. Although this is the case, it’s obvious that the Shop tab isn’t as well-liked as the Reels tab.
