PSA: Don’t update to iOS 16.3.1 if you’re a Google Photos user

Google Photos crash iOS 13.6.1

It appears like you should put off updating to iOS 16.3.1 if you utilize Google Photos for the time being. According to users, the update renders the Google Photos app for the iPhone inoperable and causes it to crash as soon as it is opened.

Even though iOS 16.3.1 has only been out for a short while, there are already several complaints about this issue on social media. After updating to iOS 16.3.1, users report that the Google Photos app crashes as soon as they attempt to launch it.

Google hasn’t yet offered any commentary on this issue. Again, iOS 16.3.1 has only been available for a short while. Even though this error appears to be related to an iOS update, Google will probably be responsible for fixing it.

Keep an eye on the App Store for an update if you’ve already updated to iOS 16.3.1 and use Google Photos. If we discover any new information on this issue, such as an estimated timeframe for a repair, we’ll be sure to update this report.
