Minsk Tractor Plant (MTZ), the renowned Belarusian tractor manufacturer, has announced plans to supply at least 2,700 BELARUS tractors to Pakistan in 2025. These tractors, with an engine power of up to 60 horsepower, are aimed at meeting Pakistan’s agricultural needs.
The agreement was signed during Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko’s recent visit to Pakistan, showcasing the strong ties between the two countries. According to MTZ General Director Sergei Avramenko, discussions are also underway to set up local assembly operations in Pakistan.
The potential for local assembly could significantly lower production costs, making the tractors more affordable for Pakistani farmers. This initiative aligns with both countries’ goals to boost trade and strengthen cooperation in the agriculture sector.
Notably, exports of BELARUS tractors to Pakistan have already seen impressive growth in 2024. From January to September, tractor exports increased by 107.9% compared to the same period in 2023, highlighting the growing demand for MTZ products in Pakistan.
This new partnership not only strengthens economic ties between Belarus and Pakistan but also offers an opportunity for agricultural development in Pakistan through access to high-quality, affordable machinery.
