Google’s Pixel Watch 3 Set to Unveil Advanced Watch Unlock Feature with UWB Connectivity

Pixel Watch 3 to Introduce UWB-Powered Advanced Watch Unlock

In recent findings, 9to5Google has uncovered exciting details about the upcoming Google Pixel Watch 3 and its enhanced Watch Unlock functionality. The tech giant seems to be gearing up to introduce Ultra-WideBand (UWB) connectivity, allowing for faster and more secure phone unlocks without relying on traditional methods like fingerprint readers or face unlock.

Deep within the Play Services app source code, references to “UWB ranging” for Watch Unlock have been discovered. However, it’s worth noting that this feature may face limitations in countries where UWB is not officially certified as a connectivity protocol. Users in such regions might still be able to use Watch Unlock, but with a potential slight delay and less accuracy.

The Pixel Watch 3, equipped with a UWB chip, is expected to revolutionize the Watch Unlock experience. This advancement suggests that Google is not only working on improving unlocking speed but also exploring potential use cases beyond this feature. UWB has applications in digital car keys, enhanced smart home controls, and even smart door locks.

Additionally, recent rumors also hint at the Pixel Watch 3 being available in a larger 45mm size, expanding the choices for users interested in Google’s next-generation wearable device.
