Driving drunk on Interstate 95 at speeds greater than 95 miles per hour is never a good idea. It’s a bad idea to do it in a Hyundai with only three tires.
The car had slipped one of its front tires and was riding on a rim, according to police in Brevard County, Florida, who were chasing it at high speed on Sunday evening. When the automobile came to a halt, the rim was nearly shattered.
Sheriff’s deputies were alerted about the speeder after receiving a 911 call from another driver, and they eventually pulled over the automobile after a 35-mile chase. Deputies noticed the 25-year-old driver was “quite intoxicated,” according to a Miami Herald article.
Deputies forced the vehicle to pull over on the shoulder of I-95 when he “rolled down his window and communicated” with obscene hand signals, according to dash cam video. Officials say the man exited the car while continuing to make obscene hand gestures after being advised by a laser would be deployed.
According to the sheriff’s office, the unidentified defendant was charged with DUI, careless driving, and resisting an officer without violence. The bail was set at $1,500.
