Xiaomi, the tech giant known for its smartphones, is gearing up to launch its second electric vehicle, the YU7 SUV, in June or July 2025. Following the success of its debut SU7 sedan, Xiaomi aims to strengthen its position in the competitive electric vehicle (EV) market.
The YU7 SUV features a sleek design inspired by the SU7 and rival models like Tesla’s Model Y. According to details from China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), the YU7 is spacious, measuring 4,999 mm in length with a wheelbase of 3,000 mm.
Powered by dual electric motors producing 295 hp (front) and 386 hp (rear), it achieves a top speed of 253 km/h.
The SUV will use a Li-ion ternary battery from CATL, though its capacity hasn’t been revealed yet. Manufacturing will take place at Xiaomi’s EV plant in Beijing, with expanded production capabilities planned to meet growing demand.
Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun shared that the YU7 is undergoing extensive testing to ensure top-notch quality. By unveiling the vehicle early, Xiaomi can conduct large-scale road tests and refine its performance.
With the YU7, Xiaomi aims to cater to the rising demand for electric SUVs and solidify its presence in the EV industry. The official launch is expected to bring further excitement to the growing market.
