Apple revealed at WWDC 2023 new aerial screensavers in macOS Sonoma, which are similar to the ones currently present in tvOS for Apple TV customers. However, they’re a part of something greater on the Mac, a new Lock Screen that’s been redesigned to look like the one on iPadOS.
When you switch between users or wake up the computer on a Mac, the Lock Screen always appears. However, it’s possible that most users have never given the macOS Lock Screen much thought. But the Lock Screen has gained prominence with macOS Sonoma. The clock and date are displayed at the top of the screen, just like the Lock Screen on the iPhone and iPad.
Yes, you read it correctly: there are numerous new wallpapers included with the new version of macOS. 22 new wallpapers are now available, and they are divided into the following groups: Earth, Cityscape, Landscape, and Underwater. But the Lock Screen can also use these wallpapers.
When you select one of these wallpapers, the Desktop displays it as a static image. However, the wallpaper changes to an aerial screen saver as soon as your Mac hits the Lock Screen. The Mac effortlessly stops moving and remains frozen in that frame when you unlock it.
